SENATOR AHMAD ABBDUL HAMID EULOGIZED FOR TRAINING AND EMPOWERING WOMEN IN JIGAWA NORTHEAST

By Ahmed Ilallah

Women play a critical role in the social and economic advancement of society, particularly in rural areas. Encouraging a woman equals empowering the entire family.

Gaining economic empowerment for women through job opportunities, education, and training can boost economic growth and productivity. Women can improve the well-being of their families and the economy as a whole when they are financially independent.

Developing a plan to reduce poverty and boost local economies makes sense for political leaders. These will do more than just lessen the citizens’ present suffering. The beneficiaries will have hope from these that they will be a respectable member of society.

The senator representing the zone was praised by women from Jigawa Northeast for his persistent efforts to address the social and economic concerns of the region’s women and youth, including by providing palliative care and startup capital for businesses.

One of the issues contributing to the rising rate of poverty in Jigawa and the nation as a whole is the lack of economic inclusivity, particularly for women and local residents.
For society to advance, political leaders must invest heavily in human capital. This kind of action is unprecedented, and the zone is currently seeing these advancements brought about by an elected senator.

However, the senator has previously made similar gestures of educating and training members of his zone for various occupations, rather than just giving them more power.

In the Jigawa Northeast Senatorial Zone, the senator is currently sponsoring the training and entrepreneurial education of forty (40) women. The training focuses on women-based trading activities in various occupations that are essential and sustainable to the lives of their community.

The recipients express their gratitude to Senator Ahmad Abdul Hamid for his commitment to providing seed capital and skills training, and they urge other political leaders to follow suit.

It is widely acknowledged that women contribute a variety of viewpoints, ideas, and skills to society when they are granted the freedom to fully participate in it. Diversity encourages creativity and innovation, which improves problem-solving and decision-making.

6,000 Direct Employment, One Year of Danmodi is Gracious and Grateful……………….

By Ahmed Ilallah

The key 🗝️ factors in developing the socioeconomic of Jigawa state are education, health, and agriculture (employment generator).

Addressing the human resources of these sectors is a radical investment to human capital development of the state.

The actions of the Jigawa State under the leadership of Malam Umar Namadi today, of engaging about 6,000 youths into the state civil service under one year of his administration is gracious and grateful.

This is the first time in history, within this short period of time, a state government to make this huge exercise.

The development will not only reduce the unemployment rate in the state, it will help in filling the gaf of understaffed of the education, health and agriculture sectors of the state.

Furthermore, it will improve these important sectors of the state, considering the caliber of the employment, all the candidates are professional and best in their fields.

While congratulating the successful candidate, there is a need for them to be dedicated, faithful, and patriotic to the development of our young state.

Congratulations to the Governor for these achievements.

Forcing the Local Government Autonomy Reforms through Supreme Court Undemocratic

By Ahmed Ilallah

The local government Reform movement for administrative and financial autonomy has become controversial to the categories of political leaders in the country.

However, there are provisions and proper processes for making amendments to the Nigerian Constitution.

The provisions of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution as Amended on the Local Government Councils can easily and democratically be amended using the constitutional guide, if the citizens wish.

The question is who wanted the reformation of the local government administration in the country? Are the Nigerians or some Nigerians?

To refresh our memory, in 2022 among the bills passed for the amendment of the Constitution, there is the Bill for Local Government Administrative and Financial Autonomy to amend the existing provisions of the 1999 Constitution as Amended.

But, this Bill failed to be secured by at least 24 State Assemblies, after the Bills with 43 others had been passed by the National Assembly and sent to the State Assemblies for their approval as required by the Constitution.

This decision by the State Assemblies has transferred the citizen’s decisions on the matter in the democratic mechanism.

The current legal battle initiated by the Federal Government instituted a legal action against the Governors of the 36 States of the Federation at the Supreme Court over alleged misconduct in the administration of Local Government Areas, LGAs.

In a suit by the Federal Government which was filed by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, is seeking full autonomy for all LGAs in the country as the third tier of government.

My frank opinion on the matter, it is undemocratic, and an attempt to use the legal part of the Federation to make decisions and enforce it to the citizens against their wishes.

If the elites or the political leaders believed that the reformation was the best at this time, the citizens should be educated and pursue their representatives at the Federal and State Assemblies to make the amendment.

No matter how anxious some people are to make any changes in the constitution, it’s very paramount to have full citizen engagement and allow the public in any decision-making through the legal provisions of the Constitution.

SIR AHMADU BELLO MEMORIAL FOUNDATION CELEBRATES NIGERIA’S DEMOCRACY DAY, MARKING 25 YEARS OF UNINTERRUPTED MULTI-PARTY DEMOCRATIC RULE

The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation joyfully commemorates May 29th as Nigeria’s Democracy Day, acknowledging the significant milestone of 25 years of uninterrupted multi-party democratic rule since 1999. We take delight in the fact that democratic institutions have become firmly established, allowing citizens to actively participate in democratic processes, particularly through elections.

However, as we reflect on the past 25 years of democratic experience and the substantial resources invested, we must acknowledge that the expected dividends have not been fully realized. The processes of ushering in leaders at various levels remain flawed, leading to irregularities and needless litigations. The quality of political leadership is still inadequate. Elections have increasingly become mere four-year rituals, while political offices are frequently rotated among a close circle of political elites. Regrettably, citizens continue to face worsening socio-economic challenges, including a deteriorating economy, security concerns, inadequate education, and healthcare services.

It is crucial that we engage in a comprehensive stock taking and reassessment to address these shortcomings. The political space must be opened for full citizens’ participation while ensuring that judicial processes are immune from political interference. Leaders must demonstrate transparency and accountability in their actions, placing the interests of the people at the center of politics rather than serving themselves.

Furthermore, there is an urgent need for the separation of powers and functions between the various arms of government. This will help prevent undue interferences and ensure the checks and balances necessary for a thriving democracy. The judiciary must be independent and free from any form of political influence, allowing it to uphold the rule of law and protect the rights of citizens.

The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation calls upon all Nigerians to hold their leaders accountable for their policies, actions, and decisions. We urge citizens to be more politically active and aware, to exercise their right to full political participation, and to engage in constructive dialogues to shape the future of our nation. It is through active citizenship that we can collectively bring about the necessary changes and foster a more inclusive and prosperous society.
On this momentous occasion, we join all Nigerians in celebrating the attainment of 25 years of unbroken democratic rule.
Happy Democracy Day!

Engr (Dr) Abubakar Gambo Umar Director – General
